About

The Balkan Mosaic Foundation (BMF) is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organisation, which builds a public diplomacy platform among a broad set of stakeholders from the Central and South Eastern Europe for creating a strong public opinion based on common security and democracy concepts and for forming a civil network from within. The Foundation claims to serve as a regional network on common security providing a policy for developing a new dialogue on security concepts in the region. A new agenda on common security in the Western Balkans not only has to address the usual consequences of transition in regard to civil and military affairs, but also has to deal with the creation of regional stability. On top of this the new challenges facing the members of the Euro-Atlantic community are demanding new capabilities and alliances. This adds an even higher complication to the achievement of common security in the region.

Within the Euro-Atlantic co-operation more responsibility for the security of the region has been transferred to the neighbouring European NATO members. The recent EU and NATO enlargement has made the commitment of the European Union members for the regional development more institutionalised. The Balkan Mosaic Foundation works for strengthening of the internal European links and for further development of the Transatlantic dialogue.
